How it is calculated
On promotion to a post carrying duties and responsibilities of greater importance, FR 22-B fixes your pay at the stage next above the figure reached by adding one notional increment to your pay in the lower post — in effect two steps up the Master Scale. You may instead elect to have pay fixed under FR 22(a)(i) on the date of promotion — one step — and re-fixed under FR 22-B on the date your increment would have accrued in the lower post, which then gives three steps from your original pay and keeps your existing increment month for the rest of your service. The option must be exercised in writing within one month of promotion.
