How it is calculated
The Automatic Advancement Scheme was introduced in 1981 for employees entitled to promotion who cannot get it at regular intervals because of stagnation due to non-availability of vacancies. It gives four advancements — Special Grade after 6 years, SPP-IA/SAPP-IA after 12, SPP-IB/SAPP-IB after 18 and SPP-II/SAPP-II after 24 years of service in the same category — and continues in the Revised Pay Scales 2020 under G.O.Ms.No.65 dt.17-06-2021, up to Grade-XXV. Appointment to these grades is not a promotion to higher duties and responsibilities, so pay is fixed under FR 22(a)(i) read with FR 31(2), not under FR 22-B, and your annual increment date is retained. All leave for which leave salary is admissible — including Earned Leave and Half Pay Leave — counts as duty, while Extraordinary Leave on private affairs postpones the due date day for day.
